Literacy Blog

  My earliest memory of being literate was when I was 5 years old reading a Cat in the Hat book. I was helped, supported, and inspired by my mom because not only did she take time off work to help me, but she also went over the words I was confused with. This encouraged me to keep trying as I may have given up on the book but since Mom helped me I had to try harder to finish the book which significantly impacted my literacy development. I began to feel literate in 2nd grade as I could read on my own and was pronouncing words on my own. I enjoy writing fiction stories as I feel I have more freedom to put my thoughts and ideas on paper. However, I like to read non-fiction and biographies because I like to learn about people's life stories and how their struggles impacted them. I love listening to music such as some old-school R&B music and others. Finally, I like to watch shows on Netflix such as Cobra Kai, All American, and Young Sheldon.
